Sir William Charles Wentworth

Sir William Charles Wentworth (1790–1872) was an adventurer, explorer, journalist, politician, and one of the leading figures in early colonial New South Wales. He was born in England but later settled in the region of Upper Lachlan. Wentworth played a vital role in the exploration and development of the area, particularly as an advocate for the construction of roads, bridges, and other infrastructure projects. His contributions to early colonial Australia are highly regarded and his legacy continues to be celebrated.

John Evans

John Evans (1790–1857) was a prominent pastoralist and explorer in the Upper Lachlan region. He is known for establishing the first sheep station in the area and his involvement in the wool industry played a crucial role in the development of Upper Lachlan's economy during the early 19th century. Evans also contributed to expeditions, mapping previously unexplored parts of the region and expanding knowledge about the local geography.

Joseph Wild

Joseph Wild (1795–1858) was an Australian explorer and surveyor who made significant contributions to the mapping and exploration of Upper Lachlan. He surveyed and charted large parts of the region, providing invaluable information about its topography and natural resources. Wild's work greatly facilitated the settlement and development of the area and his maps continue to be used as historical references today.

Marie Bashir

Dame Marie Bashir (born 1930) is an Australian psychiatrist who served as the 37th Governor of New South Wales from 2001 to 2014. While not originally from Upper Lachlan, Bashir has been associated with the region through her tenure as Governor and her active involvement in rural and regional communities. She has visited and supported various projects and initiatives in Upper Lachlan, contributing to the development of the area.

Jeffrey Vardon

Jeffrey Vardon (born 1955) is a well-known Australian artist who resides in the Upper Lachlan region. His works, primarily paintings and sculptures, have been exhibited both nationally and internationally. Vardon draws inspiration from the natural landscapes surrounding Upper Lachlan, and his art often depicts the beauty and diversity of the region's flora and fauna.
